USA 2002 - Atlanta

The next day after our arrival in Atlanta we met our friends Bob and Brenda Matthews, who live just about 1/2 hour south of Atlanta Airport. For about three years they lived near Heidelberg. Bob is a great chef and he prepared a wonderful meal for us.

To do some sightseeing in downtown Atlanta with Bob and Brenda, we took the underground “MARTA”.

We visited the Margaret Mitchell House where she wrote the famous novel “Gone With the Wind”. The reconstruction of the house was sponsered by Mercedes-Benz.

We wanted to see more places like the CNN studios but it was too hot for us (86°F / 30°C).

On the way from Atlanta north to Cherokee we stopped at Lake Lanier (for lunch) and at the 1000-foot (300 m) deep Tallulah Gorge.
